The Power of the Subconscious Mind

Have you ever had the experience that there is something just at the edge of your awareness but you can’t quite grasp it.  Perhaps you have a chronic health challenge - neck pain that just won’t fully go away no matter what you do; constipation that comes back again no matter how much you change your diet or exercise…

You feel frustrated because you’ve exhausted yourself with therapies and supplements and techniques to alleviate your problems, and nothing you do seems to shift your experience.  Somewhere inside there is a voice that asks, “What is this really about?”  You suspect that there is more to it than lies on the surface, but it still seems just beyond reach.

There is good reason for this type of experience, because there is always much more going on than lies on the surface of our awareness.  The subconscious mind is very powerful.  It is comprised of the limbic and reptilian brains, which make up approximately 98% of the activity of our brains.  The neocortex, which is the conscious part of us, is only about 2% online at any given moment.  Therefore, we are aware of very little that is happening at any point in time.  For example, we don’t have to be conscious of our heart beating and pumping blood throughout our bodies for it to do its job.  We don’t have to think about how to make our car drive when we leave for work in the morning.  These are automatic mechanisms that occur without conscious thought.

It is actually ingenious!  Our brain is structured to move anything that it can into the realm of the subconscious–a very wise move in terms of evolution.   The conscious is reserved for emergency/survival situations that arise.  Imagine if you had to remember and figure out how to run if a lion was coming your way!  That wouldn’t get you very far!

When we get right down to it, the subconscious is our true master.  With the odds being (subconscious) 98% to (conscious) 2%, is there any real question who will win? If something is held in the subconscious that is in opposition to what we consciously desire, is there any way that we can achieve what we want?

The key is to delve into the world of the subconscious, find out what is causing the blockage and bring it to consciousness where we can work with it, shift it and release it.  This will allow true healing to occur.

What’s it like as you read this?  You may find yourself getting excited because something about this makes sense, and speaks to that part of you that knows that there must be something underneath the chronic challenges that you experience.

The body is a major avenue through which the subconscious expresses itself.  That neck pain or that constipation that just won’t go away no matter what you do–its your subconscious speaking to you!  There is something that your subconscious wants you to know, something that is needs you to know, something that it needs you to deal with.

If this seems overwhelming to you, don’t fret.  There are people out there who can help.  Call me for a free consultation today and get started on healing what’s under the surface of your experience.
