I just returned from co-facilitating an incredible health retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica for 18 participants.
Besides eating AMAZING local food, doing yoga and chi gung every morning and evening on the beach, and connecting soulfully with our retreat community, we spent a lot of our time clarifying our intentions and visioning what we want for our lives this year.
Now is the time to vision!
Although the Western New Year falls on December 31st each year, many other traditions, including the Chinese, follow a lunar calendar and the New Year falls sometime between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. The months between these dates are ideal for visioning and planting the seeds for what you wish to manifest in the spring and summer months.
The secret to success in the visioning process is creating the feeling as if you already have everything you desire. Here is a practice that you can follow:
- Reflect on what you want to bring into your life. You may want to write in your journal as you do this.
- Find a quiet, comfortable place, breath deeply into your belly, and center yourself in the moment. Give yourself permission to let your imagination run wild.
- Imagine your life as if you already had everything you want. Feel, taste, touch, smell and listen to the experiences that your imagination leads you to. Notice the sensations in your body. Notice your emotions and thoughts that come with already having everything you desire.
- What would it take for you to be the person you need to be to have everything you desire in 2009? What are the qualities that you would like to develop?
- Allow yourself to feel your emotions, and any limiting thoughts that occur to you. Acknowledge them and allow yourself to move through them.
- Be gentle with yourself. Remember that you are a spiritual being having a human experience, and your essence is infinite potential.
